Bridge the Gap Between Faith and a Busy Schedule
The Problem: Busy Muslims Struggle to Pray on the Go
In Greater London alone, there are over 1.3 million Muslims (2021 Census). For them, the five daily prayers are non-negotiable, requiring privacy, devotion and being prayed on time.
However, urban life creates a "Discovery Gap":
- The Struggle: Finding a clean, quiet space while commuting or working is high-friction.
- The Status Quo: Users rely on outdated Google Maps reviews or "improvising" in quiet corners of buildings.
- The Result: Many are forced to delay or miss prayers - not due to a lack of faith, but a lack of information.
Salah Seeker was built to close this gap by turning a fragmented landscape into a reliable, community-driven directory.
The Solution
I designed Salah Seeker to be a "Map-First" utility. The goal was to eliminate "App Fatigue" by keeping everything - locations, prayer times, and Qibla- on one screen.
Main Map View
A calm, focused UI that prioritizes immediate discovery.
Core Features:
- Contextual Filtering: Filter spots by Wudu facilities, women-only areas, or accessibility.
- All-in-One Utility: Next prayer countdown and Qibla compass integrated directly into the map overlays.
- Community First: A streamlined "Add Spot" flow ensures the database grows with the user base.
Architecture & UX
My product direction focused on a "Zero-Friction" user journey:
- Open: Immediate GPS lock on nearby options.
- Filter: One-tap "Pills" to narrow down specific needs.
- Act: Tap a spot for a detail sheet with entry instructions and amenities.
The Road Ahead
Salah Seeker is currently in the MVP Stage, focusing on core stability.
Phase 2 will introduce:
- The "Verified" Badge: Moderation workflows to build user trust.
- Smart Notifications: "10 minutes until Asr - the nearest spot is 4 mins away."
- Offline Mode: Light caching for reliable use in the London Underground.
Reflection
Building Salah Seeker taught me how to balance complex API integrations (Location + Magnetometer + Prayer Times) with a clean, minimalist UI. It’s more than an app; it’s a tool for spiritual consistency in a fast-paced world.
